How is it already May? This year is flying by so quickly! I’ve had lots of top secret projects on the go these past few months. It is so very hard not being able to share all of them with you. But today I can share one! The Impressions of Spring block that I designed for Nurturing Fibres, a free crochet square pattern, is now available over on the Nurturing Fibres website!
Impressions of Spring Crochet Block
For this free crochet square pattern, I used a delicate yarn (Nurturing Fibres EcoLush) but you could use whatever yarn you have on hand. EcoLush is a fingering weight yarn that is a blend of bamboo (40%) and cotton (60%). The blend of fibre types give this piece a lovely drape. All Nurturing Fibres yarns are hand dyed which gives a gorgeous natural feel to the colors. I have loved working with their EcoCotton and EcoBamboo, and I’m about to give some of the merino a go too!
This pattern is probably best suited to an intermediate crocheter (or adventurous beginner!) as it uses some puff stitches and front / back post stitches, but it is certainly worth the effort!
The name “Impressions of Spring” comes from the both the flower bud shapes made by the puff stitches, as well as the little pops of color / texture along the edge of the square. A delicate motif that would make the most gorgeous, lightweight blanket for those cooler Spring days!
If you are looking for more spring themed patterns, make sure to check out some of my other free patterns. There are loads over on my Tutorials and Downloads page, such as the crochet Poppy Flower, crochet Narcissus flower and Boho flower bracelet!
